Omer Zadikevitch was more than just a name; he was a beacon of positivity, an enthusiast for life who cherished every moment he spent with his family, friends, and surfing. He was the kind of person who turned every day into an adventure, finding magic in the mundane and joy in the everyday challenges. Whether it was fixing a problem with his technical skills or catching the perfect wave, Omer brought a sense of passion and determination to everything he did.
His love for the ocean was profound. For Omer, surfing was more than a hobby—it was a philosophy, a way to connect with nature and oneself. He imparted this love to his children, teaching them that the sea is not just a place but a home, a place of freedom and expression. Omer’s untimely death in a senseless act of violence during the tragic events of October 7, when many people were brutally killed, robbed the world of a bright light. But it also ignited a commitment in us to keep his spirit alive.
The Next October community is committed to ensuring that Omer and others like him are never forgotten. Our mission is to remember those we have lost, to celebrate their lives, and to ensure their legacies continue to inspire future generations.
In honor of Omer, we are launching our next version—DOConvert V2.1-4-Omer. This initiative is more than just a technological update; it is a tribute to a life lived fully and passionately. The name of this version reflects the heart of Omer’s life: his four children and himself as the father.
The symbol we’ve chosen—a design of four small waves and one larger wave—is a family tattoo that Omer and his children all did together. We took this meaningful symbol to honor Omer’s legacy. The four small waves represent his children, and the larger wave represents Omer as the father. The pulse running through the waves signifies that surfing and family are at the heart of life, an essential part of his legacy.
We are also planning a special event—a circle of surfers coming together on the anniversary of Omer’s passing. This gathering will not only commemorate his love for the ocean but also fulfill his wish for his children to carry on the tradition of surfing. Through these actions, we aim to honor Omer’s memory and continue his legacy, inspiring others to live with the same passion and joy that he did.
We are especially honored to welcome the Zadikevitch family into the DOConvert family. Their strength and commitment to preserving Omer’s legacy are deeply inspiring, and we are proud to stand with them on this journey. Together, we are stronger, united in our purpose to remember, honor, and keep the spirit of those we have lost alive in everything we do.
In remembering Omer, we find strength and purpose, a reason to continue building, living, and loving, just as he would have wanted.
